CHEQ studied a total of 71.7 million site visits on February 12th, and found that 11% of those site visits from both paid and non-paid sources were from bots and fake users. When applied to the 331 billion online impressions on Super Bowl-related content, it is estimated that 36.4 billion impressions actually came from bots and fake users. When looking at traffic from the US specifically, the rate of fake traffic was even higher at 17.7%.
